ello, Kelly…
Must say your quote today is a little depressing. This would be the belief of a Frenchman who found that pain is a more powerful motivator than pleasure. (Perhaps he spent too much time reading the Marquis de Sade? LOL) But, while the vast majority of humanity may be more effectively motivated by pain than pleasure, I believe that many people, including more creative individuals, are not. We are the ones who are always seeking more; more depth, more meaning, more beauty, more grace… and, for some of us, the threat of pain can have an opposite effect: counter-productive, demobilising, even to the point of crushing our spirit. We dare to believe that we perform according to our dreams. At least most of the time. :)
Keep the beautiful, inspiring art coming… you feed my soul!

neda…thank you for your kind words. I have listed some of my work on my etsy site (www.kellya.etsy.com), however if there is something you’re interested in but do not see it listed, please don’t hesitate to contact me. :)
Dearest Kelly,
I apologize if my comments yesterday offended you, I assure you from the bottom of my heart that there was no criticism meant, nor anything negative of any kind. I simply, personally, find that quote sad because it implies that we only follow through out of fear of consequences. I had hoped to commence a conversation, as I thought was kind of your expectation with the line under the quote about the “many pages of writing”… I thought this would make an interesting topic of conversation.
Again I apologize.
Hélène
helene…
Thank you for your apology, but it is not necessary! I did not take offense to your opinion about the quote. You are quite entitled to your interpretation and since this is a public site, I don’t expect everyone to agree with me or like my work.
I do however, want to state that I create art from my heart and soul and for myself, not my audience.
If my art/photography happens to inspire others, then great…if it does not, I will not change it or apologize for it. I would expect…and respect…the same about any artist who is committed to staying true to themselves.
I did not realize you were looking for a conversation since you simply stated your opinion and did not ask my interpretation of the quote. :)
Personally, I think it’s a great thing that we all don’t think the same way…what a boring world this would be if we did!!!
Thanks for taking ther time to clarify your comment…hugs, kelly
