I debated whether I should post about what I experienced when my daughter was missing…I decided to write about it because it is my reality…and the truth is that the layers of our lives are not just made of happy occassions and experiences.
We all have these things happen…experiences that make up the collage of our lives. Some are full of joy while others are laden with pain, yet each is meaningful and purposeful and worth examining.
So I encourage you to take a minute to create and/or write about something that lives deep in your soul, whether that is your deepest fear, your largest pain or your biggest loss. Interestingly, it is not our joy and happiness that makes us feel connected to one another…instead it is our pain, our fears and our suffering that makes us most human to one another. I believe that the more courageous we are when it comes to facing what lies beneath our own surfaces, the more we will be able to see that as human beings, we are so much more alike than we are different.
